TPSSA Mentorship Program

Building Futures Through Mentorship, Education & Opportunity

For more than 15 years, the Titchfield Past Students Sports Association, Inc. (TPSSA) has proudly served as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by past students at Titchfield High School — many of whom represented the institution in sports.

Our mission began with providing financial support, sports gear, and equipment to strengthen the school’s athletic and academic programs. More importantly, TPSSA was founded on the principle of giving back to the next generation while helping students build character, discipline, leadership, spiritual values, and academic success.

At the heart of our mentorship program is the belief that true success is not measured only by personal achievement, but also by service to others. We encourage our mentees to develop strong moral foundations, maintain faith and integrity, and become positive role models within their families, schools, and communities.

TPSSA also inspires students to embrace a culture of giving back. As beneficiaries of mentorship and support, mentees are encouraged to one day return as mentors, donors, leaders, and advocates who will help create opportunities for future generations of Titchfield students, Jamaica, and the world at large.

Today, that mission extends far beyond athletics.

Empowering Students Through Mentorship & Financial Assistance

Many academically gifted students were missing the opportunity to attend college, university, or technical school simply because of financial hardship. At the same time, many students were growing up in single-parent households where mentorship, guidance, and positive support systems were critically needed.

In response, TPSSA launched the Mentorship Program in 2022 an initiative focused on providing both mentorship and financial assistance to students pursuing opportunities locally and abroad, whether they participate in sports or not.

Our Goal

To help deserving students transition successfully from high school into higher education, technical training, or the professional workforce.

How We Are Making A Difference

TPSSA is currently supporting students attending:

  • Benedict      College – South Carolina, USA
  • University      of Technology, Jamaica
  • The      University of the West Indies
  • Barton      Community College – Kansas, USA

Despite the ongoing challenges of raising donations, TPSSA continues to work tirelessly to expand its donor base and strengthen both the sports and mentorship arms of the organization.

Why Your Support Matters

Students attending overseas colleges especially in the United States often receive only partial academic scholarships. These students typically do not qualify for U.S. government assistance or many U.S.-based scholarships available to domestic students.

In many cases, students also face employment restrictions while studying abroad, limiting their ability to financially support themselves during school.

Your donations help cover critical expenses such as:

  • Tuition      not covered by scholarships
  • Housing      and utilities
  • Food      and groceries
  • Books      and school supplies
  • Transportation
  • Clothing      and personal necessities
  • Travel      expenses between Jamaica and school locations

The estimated annual cost to support the program in its basic form is approximately $10,000–$15,000 per student per year.

Every contribution helps create opportunities that can positively impact generations to come.

Director Andrew Ogeare plans to spearhead a future initiative to raise a minimum of $100,000 USD to establish a structured endowment fund. This fund will be professionally managed to generate perpetual income, creating a stable and sustainable source of financial support. The income produced will be directed toward meeting the ongoing needs of these deserving young people in the program, ensuring consistent access to resources, opportunities, and support services that contribute to their long-term development and well-being.
